So Carrie Underwood's new album "Cry Pretty" hit our ears last Friday, September 14th. I've been waiting for new Carrie music for a long long time & I'm so glad that it is finally out!

After listening to the album a couple times I have to say Carrie did not disappoint. From the emotional "The Bullet" to the fun alluring"That Song That We Used To Make Love To", I was pulled in by every beat & note.

My favorite song has to be "Backsliding". I'm not going to lie I had to look up what backsliding meant. I thought it meant sliding on a banana or something.... but Google saved me and it means falling back into bad habits. So needless to say the song made much more sense to me. I feel like Underwood is using her vocals in a way that she has never done before.

With the "Cry Pretty" album she wrote a lot of the songs AND produced the album too! This is the first time she has ever been hands on like this for a project and I think you can really tell through listening to the songs.

Now I know what people are going to say. "This is NOT country music!" But music is changing. We are no longer listening to music because of the genre, we are listening to SONGS!! Artists nowadays are creating albums full of songs that they feel as though is their best work. They are not making a country or pop album because that's their "genre". So yes, this album isn't your typical country banjo album, it does have pop elements. But I encourage you to listen to each song as what it is.

Happy Listening!
